The South African Immunology Society (SAIS), in collaboration with Ikamva Youth Centre, is proud to host a community engagement event aimed at inspiring the next generation of scientists and health advocates.
We will be engaging high school learners from Nyanga (Cape Town) and Diepsloot (Gauteng), creating a space to explore the fundamentals of immunity in an accessible and interactive way. Our focus will be on one of the most critical principles in immunology, balance, and how its disruption can lead to disease, from infections to autoimmune conditions.
This initiative reflects our commitment to bridging science, community, and education, and to making immunology relevant and empowering for young learners.

Day of Immunology 2025
We’re excited to share a first look at an upcoming collaborative campaign that explores the fascinating link between the immune system and multiple sclerosis (MS).
Hosted by South African Immunology Society (SAIS) in partnership with the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS) and Multiple Sclerosis South Africa (MSSA), this special Day of Immunology event will highlight: • The basic immunology of MS • Diagnostics and treatment • A powerful patient testimonial
With the theme “Immunological Insights into Neurological Disorders,” the campaign aims to raise awareness and deepen understanding of MS from both scientific and personal perspectives.
